Ping! Middlesbrough

Ping! Middlesbrough is turning out to be a great success with most of the sites throughout the town proving very popular with Middlesbrough residents coming out and enjoying playing table tennis.  None have been more popular than the one in Middlesbrough Centre in Captain Cooks Square where 3 tables are housed under the tent in the centre of the square.

Helping to make Ping! Middlesbrough popular are the coaching sessions which are being carried out daily throughout the town.  The two coaches who are engaged in providing the service are both from the Ormesby Club with Malcolm Muldoon, who is a specialist coach working with people with a disability and with special target groups, and Chloe Whyte, an English international player who is one of the leading women players in the country and a member of the Ormesby team that has won the English National Championship twice in the last three years.

Ping! Middlesbrough

On the fifth day of PING! Middlesbrough one of the venues where table tennis took place was in the beautiful garden setting of Ormesby Hall, Ormesby. The building now owned by the National Trust was once the home of the Pennyman family.

Although not on a large scale like some of the other venues, nevertheless the table tennis table was in use for the whole of the afternoon. People from around the area played as well as families from further away including Durham and Harrogate.

Ping ! Middlesbrough

Denis Neale launched PING! Middlesbrough on Tuesday 23 July in Centre Square Middlesbrough. In the picture Denis can be seen playing a challenge match with Ormesby’s Chloe Whyte who is a member of the Ormesby team who are the current Women’s British League Champions.
